DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION:\nNeurobehavioral Conditions including FASD: Understanding & Application of the FASCETS Brain-Based Approach\nThis training provides information about Fetal Alcohol/Neurobehavioral Conditions (FA/NB) and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on the brains and behaviors of children\, adolescents and adults.\nFA/NB are brain-based\, neurobehavioral conditions with behavioral symptoms. The training will educate you on a best practices approach for increasing understanding of FA/NB\, reducing frustration\, and expanding options. Case examples of successful accommodations are central to this training.\n✔ Understand FA/NB as a brain-based physical disability with behavioral symptoms\n✔ Understand and recognize primary and secondary symptoms\n✔ Learn why people with FA/NB frequently receive overlapping DSM diagnoses\n✔ Understand why traditional behavioral treatment techniques are frequently ineffective for people with FA/NB\n✔ Learn to develop and apply effective strategies for people with FA/NB in different settings \nTRAINER:\nTamra Cajo\, LCSW is a Facilitator in Training of the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Model and the Director of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Clinic at The Florida Center for Early Childhood. Tamra graduated with a master’s degree in social work from Loyola University in Chicago (2005) and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Iowa (1993). Tamra is a bilingual licensed clinical social worker with almost 20 years of experience working in early childhood and prevention.
