SUMMARY:Families Moving Forward Specialist Training (30.0 CEs)
DESCRIPTION:Families Moving Forward (FMF) Specialist Training \nWednesday\, Oct 5\, Friday\, October 7\, Wednesdays Oct 12\, Oct 19\, Oct 26\, and Nov 2\, 2022 \n$2500.00  \nLearn the evidence-based\, CDC recommended\, intervention for FASD \nThe Families Moving Forward (FMF) Specialist Training six-day course\, and ensuing 10-hour intervention fidelity training\, teaches professionals to deliver the FMF Program as an FMF Specialist. \nThe FMF Program is a positive parenting intervention designed to help families raising children between 3 and 13 years old\, or who are older but at a functional level in this range. The program aims to help children who have concerning behavior problems and are affected by prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE)\, with or without a fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) diagnosis. This behavioral consultation intervention combines a positive behavior support (PBS) approach with motivational interviewing (MI)\, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help parents change their own knowledge and attitudes about the disorder\, leading to improvements in their child’s behavior. The FMF Program is a scientifically validated intervention listed as a promising practice by the California Evidence Based Clearinghouse. \nFMF sessions are designed to be delivered in person\, however\, they may be conducted via telehealth\, over a period of about 7-11 months. Sessions are designed to be delivered in order but can be easily customized to suit the needs of individual families. \n✔ Six days of virtual\, comprehensive training including didactics\, with a live trainer over zoom\, readings\, videos\, and cooperative discussion \n✔ Learn scientifically validated strategies to help children living with PAE and/or FASD and their families✔ Gain a thorough understanding of FASD & PAE\, including associated stigma from leading psychologists in the field.✔ Access to the online FMF Portal for full intervention materials specifically designed for this clinical population✔ Practice and support in using actual session materials to become comfortable with the clinical process. \n✔ Become a PAE & FASD-informed  provider \nTRAINER:  Dr. Trancik is a licensed child clinical psychologist who specializes in FASD diagnosis\, treatment\, and prevention\, with over a decade of research experience in the field. She served as a Neuropsychologist on the Florida Center for Early Childhood FASD Clinic team for 14 years. Florida Center’s FASD Clinic is the State’s first and only state-wide diagnostic and intervention clinic. Her career in the field of FASD began 20 years ago while enrolled in graduate school at the University of Washington. During that time she assisted Dr. Carmichael Olson in developing the FMF Program as a scientifically-validated FASD intervention. She is now the primary FMF trainer on the East Coast.

SUMMARY:HELPING CHILDREN WITH MINDFULNESS & MOVEMENT (2 CEUs)
DESCRIPTION:This course will demonstrate the importance of the connection between the physical body and the mind and emotions. Attendees will understand the importance of normalizing strong emotions for children and helping improve their self-efficacy in regulating themselves. The course will also demonstrate ways to make relaxation and healthy movement techniques accessible and fun for children. \nMargaret is a school-based mental health therapist at Fruitville Elementary and a master’s level clinician pursuing clinical social work licensure. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Florida State University and previously worked in a hospital setting helping individuals cope with severe and persistent mental illness. Margaret has experience providing both Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporates components of positive psychology. She is also a Certified ChildLight Instructor with training in yoga and mindfulness for children. Margaret has facilitated group and individual yoga classes for children ages 5-12 and hopes to increase awareness of the role that mindfulness and healthy movement have in developing children’s coping skills and resilience. \nThe Florida Board of Clinical Social Work\, Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling has approved 2.0 CEUs for Licensed Clinical Social Workers\, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists\, Licensed Mental Health Counselors\, and Certified Master Social Workers.  Certificates will be provided for self-reporting.

DESCRIPTION:DESCRIPTION:\nNeurobehavioral Conditions including FASD: Understanding & Application of the FASCETS Brain-Based Approach\nThis training provides information about Fetal Alcohol/Neurobehavioral Conditions (FA/NB) and the effects of alcohol and other drugs on the brains and behaviors of children\, adolescents and adults.\nFA/NB are brain-based\, neurobehavioral conditions with behavioral symptoms. The training will educate you on a best practices approach for increasing understanding of FA/NB\, reducing frustration\, and expanding options. Case examples of successful accommodations are central to this training.\n✔ Understand FA/NB as a brain-based physical disability with behavioral symptoms\n✔ Understand and recognize primary and secondary symptoms\n✔ Learn why people with FA/NB frequently receive overlapping DSM diagnoses\n✔ Understand why traditional behavioral treatment techniques are frequently ineffective for people with FA/NB\n✔ Learn to develop and apply effective strategies for people with FA/NB in different settings \nTRAINER:\nTamra Cajo\, LCSW is a Facilitator in Training of the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Model and the Director of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Clinic at The Florida Center for Early Childhood. Tamra graduated with a master’s degree in social work from Loyola University in Chicago (2005) and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Iowa (1993). Tamra is a bilingual licensed clinical social worker with almost 20 years of experience working in early childhood and prevention.
